Patric Büeler
onway: along with onway – how long have you been on board?
Patric Büeler: I have been with onway since February 1, 2023.
What tasks does your role include?
I am employed as a project manager. In addition to the classic project manager role, I also have other tasks which I share with my colleagues. These include material management and logistics. I also help with setting up lab environments (providing power, setting up test stations, and procuring necessary materials such as tools, power supplies, etc.). Other tasks include returns, creating document templates, and contributing to ISO certifications.
What do you particularly enjoy about your job?
As a project manager, you are often in contact with clients. On the one hand, it’s about implementing proven plans and solutions with the clients, and on the other hand, it’s about exploring new paths to achieve specific goals. This requires creativity and presents new challenges. As can be seen from my tasks, I enjoy the variety in my work and can support my colleagues in different areas. This brings me – even when things can get hectic – a lot of joy, and it also provides insight into various processes within the company.
Which technologies and topics do you come across in your job?
With all the technologies that our engineers implement – meaning the entire ICT (Information and Communication Technology) field. As a project manager, I would be more of a “generalist” than a “specialist.” If a topic requires in-depth knowledge, I turn to the engineer for help. In a few areas, I may also engage more deeply myself, but in my role, it’s more important to have an overview of the entire project and the interconnections.
You have to keep up with the times, or the times will leave you behind.
onway: What professional expertise are you bringing to the table?
Patric Büeler: Before joining onway, I spent nearly 20 years working in a large company in the ICT industry, with a few side gigs here and there. During that time, I also furthered my education in network technology and held various positions such as PreSales, PostSales, consulting, product management, partner care, and technical support.
What are your plans for the future, what do you definitely want to achieve with onway?
I would be very happy to contribute to the growth of the company. I believe there will be many changes – not least due to growth – in the coming years. Helping shape that journey is a great satisfaction and, of course, provides many opportunities to learn and experience new things. That’s also what the industry dictates – IT knows no stagnation.
Why onway? To me, working at onway means …
At onway, there is a wonderful work atmosphere. The employees are at the center of everything and have a lot of responsibility and freedom. The company’s basic factors are well above average. On the other hand (or perhaps because of this), I am proud of the very high quality of the solutions.
Any final words?
“You have to keep up with the times, or the times will leave you behind.”
