“We were able to incorporate our experience from the successful networking of the Mandarin Palace Hotel in Lucerne directly into our work at the Mandarin Oriental Savoy Hotel at Zurich's Paradeplatz,” says Armin Walt, Systems Engineer Project Manager at onway. The customer requirements for both Mandarin Oriental Group hotels were almost identical:

• A robust foundation for the gradual digitalisation of the hospitality industry, taking into account the future needs of both guests and hotel operators.
• A scalable network (LAN, WLAN, WAN redundancy, and security components).
• A network design that ensures high availability with redundancy for all core components, crucial for the hotel’s 24/7 operations.
• Compliance with the Payment Card Industry’s data security standards and secure maintenance of network configurations.
• Protection against cyberattacks, including those originating from internal guest rooms, safeguarding against both internal and external threats.

In this exciting project, onway developed the network concept based on Mandarin Oriental’s specifications, took responsibility for a significant portion of the project work, and coordinated direct communication with various suppliers. Network components from Commscope/Ruckus ensure seamless communication throughout the Mandarin Oriental Savoy hotel. The IT and OT networks have been integrated, meaning that building control, entertainment (audio, video), and guest WLAN all operate over the same infrastructure.
