A comprehensive WLAN solution for vocational schools in Thurgau

      News

The vocational schools in Thurgau offer a wide range of training courses. Whether prospective merchant, hairdresser, logistician, dental assistants or cybersecurity specialist, they will all benefit from onway's WLAN solution in the future. onway will implement a comprehensive WLAN solution at the Business Education Center (BZ), the Health and Social Affairs BZ and the Commercial BZ in Weinfelden, the BZ in Arbon, the BZ for Construction and Fashion in Kreuzlingen, the BZ for Technology in Frauenfeld and, finally, the Education and Advisory Center in Arenenberg.

      High requirements

The requirements for the project are high, as all campuses are to be connected to the new WLAN network. While it was previously necessary to register with a username and password via email every time you logged in, a simpler bring-your-own-device solution is now to be introduced. The extensive registration processes each time the WLAN is accessed is replaced by an automatic connection to the network. However, it was not only Internet access for students and teachers that was desired. Events and conventions are regularly organized at the vocational schools, which are attended by external guests who should have access to the WLAN. For security reasons, these should be clearly distinguished from internal users. All IOT devices are also connected. This includes the weather station, display screens, printers and many other devices. The entire laboratory environment will also be part of the new solution.

The special thing about this project is that we can use our entire product range.

Solution model from A to Z

“onway can integrate all desired functions into a comprehensive WLAN architecture,” says Armin Walt, Systems Engineer at onway. Our captive portal “mpp” is used for the simple authentication of users. It enables individual adjustment of usage rights depending on the person or device logging in. “Guest access” is set up for this purpose. The “macman” developed by onway enables multi-client capable management of all IOT devices, which are controlled centrally and without additional effort by the “onway director”. “The special thing about this project is that we can use our entire product range,” says Walt. We would like to thank the Thurgau vocational schools for their trust and look forward to implementing the project.
