Stable Connections in the Alpine Region

News

The Matterhorn Gotthard Railway has ordered 25 new, state-of-the-art trains from Stadler. A key component of the new fleet is the powerful communication technology provided by onway. The routers ensure a stable, fast, and secure connection – even under the demanding topographical conditions of the Alpine region. This allows passengers to enjoy not only a modern travel experience but also seamless digital connectivity along the way.

The trains manufactured by Stadler for the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway come equipped with onway routers directly from the factory, enabling Wi-Fi services onboard. These systems are specially designed to meet the challenges of railway operations in alpine terrain, offering high reliability, intelligent aggregation of multiple mobile networks, and easy integration into existing IT infrastructures.

The World’s Longest Passenger Train Gets Even Longer

Back in 2022, the world record train of the Rhaetian Railway (RhB) attracted international attention. Its 100 cars, stretching 1,906 meters, were fully equipped with onway Wi-Fi. Now, the train has been extended even further: with six additional cars, it now measures over 2 kilometers. These new cars have also been equipped with onway technology, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity for both passengers and onboard systems at all times.
