IT organizations are confronted with an ever-increasing number of so-called Internet of Things (IoT) devices. These include displays, video conferencing equipment, media players and screens in meeting rooms, printers, smart lamps, networked coffee machines, climate sensors and controls and much more. Depending on the industry, specialist devices such as cash registers, scales and surveillance cameras in supermarkets, robots and barcode scanners in logistics or fitness equipment in gyms can also be targeted. IoT devices are popular targets for cyber criminals because they are often poorly protected.
Solution
Such insecure devices must be operated completely separately from the internal IT infrastructure so that any malware cannot spread. A common approach is micro-segmentation of the internal network, which separates the different device types into their own virtual networks and thus protects them from each other. However, this is often associated with security gaps and high administrative costs. Our Smart Access products help companies to solve these problems.
Use of our software
Our "macman" software solution complements the classic radius products of the major network manufacturers by authenticating insecure IoT devices separately from the internal infrastructure. The multi-client capable management solution "onway director" enables decentralized management. With our Smart Access solution, you can easily control which groups of people are allowed to manage which devices. Our cost-effective edge gateways allow the integration of insecure devices thanks to an integrated firewall or extensive VPN functionalities.
Our approach
In a joint workshop with the customer, we identify the use cases that are to be handled via the smart access solution. From this, we create a network and architecture concept as the basis for implementation. The introduction or migration takes place gradually and should have as little impact as possible on ongoing operations. We accompany the necessary process adjustments and support you in training your employees. Once the project is complete, we are at your side with operational, maintenance and support services.
